The 2022 Initiative
Digitising Bollandists’ Precious Manuscripts
Initiated in 2022, the process of digitising the Bollandists’ heritage is primarily intended to make the collections held by the Société accessible to scholars. Priority has been given to manuscripts dating from before 1500, i.e. 98 items dating from the ninth to the fifteenth century. This programme, entrusted to a specialised Belgian firm, will enable our manuscripts to be viewed online in high definition. This work goes hand in hand with a new, detailed description of the codices. In the near future, copper matrices from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries will also be digitised and made available online, together with their engravings (mainly published in the Acta Sanctorum).
